Through The Lakes
July 2015

A beautiful trip that combines nature and towns in the northern part of Italy. We started the trip in Venice, which is relatively close (we landed at the airport outside of Venice). It is possible to land in a different, if time is limited.
For the rest of the trip, we chose to spend the night in "Riva del Garda", which is located in the northern part of Lake Garda. From there we went on day trips.

Venice
After landing, we boarded a sea shuttle that left outside the airport, towards our hotel. Venice has several popular destinations to visit and you can find more about it online, or by opening Google Maps in the area.

Verona
On the way from Venice to Riva del Garda, we chose to stop in Verona for refreshment. We passed through "Julia's House" as well as the shopping road which is not far from it.

Riva del Garda
The town is built of two parts - new and older part (located on the west side). In the old part there are many restaurants, and next to is a whole street of shops. You can also go cruising in the lake itself or swim in one of the beaches.

Gardaland
Although we did not visit Gardaland, it is a destination that must be mentioned, and if you come with children, it is one of the most requested attractions.

Lago Di Carreza
A beautiful turquoise lake, surrounded by trees and mountains. One of the most beautiful I've seen. It is not possible to enter the lake itself, but only walk at the road beside it (at least not when we were there). Important note: Since 2015, friends said that the lake has shrunk significantly. This should be checked before the trip

Cascate Nardis
Nardis Falls are an excellent attraction. We arrived at the place, paid at the entrance, and parked the car.
There is a local shuttle bus that leaves at regular times and stops at several stops along the way. We chose one of the points at the beginning. Important: check in advance that the bus is active, as well as its operating hours. Since this changes according to the season

Lago di Fedaia
An artificial lake, created by a dam. Beautiful mountains all around.

On The Way North
On the way to the more northern parts of the trip, there are beautiful picturesque towns. I recommend planning in advance/stopping at one of them (not during the siesta!).

Lago di Tenno
In some of the day trips we took, we passed through Lake Tenno on the way back. In one of the times, we decided to stop there. It is a beautiful turquoise lake, the water is simply clear and you can see the stones and the small fish. You can enter this lake, unlike Lago di Carreza.
We parked in a parking lot that is close to the road, and next to it there are stairs that will lead to the lake itself.

Castello di Arco
Arco Castle is an ancient castle, close to Riva del Garda. The view from the castle is beautiful. Entrance is paid. Please note - there is a steep climb to get to the castle. Not suitable for everyone

Malcesine
A town on Lake Garda with restaurants, shops and great atmosphere. In addition, the town has an ancient castle that can be visited for a fee.

Sirmione
A charming town, on Lake Garda. The town has a famous castle, antiquities of a Roman villa (in the northern part), as well as famous ice cream in a giant cup.
